ZL55 was derived from an epithelial tumour of the pleural cavity of a 52-year old male, prior to treatment, with a known history of exposure to asbestos.

ZL55 Cell Line was tested and found to be free of mycoplasma, bacterial, viruses, and other toxins. All cells were above 95% viability before freezing.
