Description
SSE-5 was initiated in 1964 from pooled embryos of Sockeye Salmon (Oncorynchus nerka). The cell line that cell line is also known as Sockeye Salmon embryo-5, is susceptible to infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV), viral hemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV) and infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV). For replication of salmonid viruses SSE-5 cells should be grown at 18°C.

Quality Control
SSE-5 Cell Line was tested and found to be free of mycoplasma, bacterial, viruses, and other toxins. All cells were above 95% viability before freezing.
