Description
Rat Pulmonary Alveolar Epithelial Cells (RPAEpiC) from Glow Biologics are isolated from postnatal day 2 CD® IGS rat lung. RPAEpiC are cryopreserved at P0 and delivered frozen. RPAEpiC are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibodies specific to CK-18, -19, and vimentin. RPAEpiC are guaranteed to further culture under the conditions provided by Glow Biologics. However, this cell type is not recommended for expanding or long term cultures since the cells would differentiate to type I alveolar epithelial cells immediately after plating and type I alveolar epithelial cells do not proliferate in culture.
Suggested Medium
It is recommended to use Alveolar Epithelial Cell Medium for culturing RPAEpiC in vitro.
Quality Control
Rat Pulmonary Alveolar Epithelial Cells are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi.
Storage
On receipt, immediately transfer the frozen cells to liquid nitrogen (-180 °C)
