Description
The R9 line was derived by co-cultivation of 18 day-old Lewis rat embryonic fibroblasts with cells of a chicken positive for Rous sarcoma virus-33 (RSV-33). The R9 cell population is clearly distinguishable from RT1 and R74 cell lines because it contains flat polygonal and triangular refractile cells with a tendency to round up. It cell line is also tumourigenic in chickens and rats.
