Description
Derived from kidney of normal adult female Potorous tridactylis in 1962, believed to be the first permanent cell line of marsupial origin to be established. Important because of low number, large size and distinct morphology of chromosomes of this mammalian species.

Quality Control
Ptk1 Cell Line was tested and found to be free of mycoplasma, bacterial, viruses, and other toxins. All cells were above 95% viability before freezing.
