Description
HR5 cells were obtained after transfection of HeLa cells with plasmids coding for a reverse tetracycline-controlled transactivator encoding a nuclear localisation sequence (rt TA-nls) and transferring G418 resistance. This transactivator (a fusion between the Tet repressor and the activating domain of the herpes simplex virus VP16 transcription activation domain) can stimulate the expression of a reporter gene up to 10E5-fold. HR5 is the parent cell line for HR5-CL11.
