Description
Derived from a skin biopsy of a normal Caucasian female embryo. Cells may be considered normal and may serve as controls for study of cells having mutant chromosomes. Cells support growth of herpes viruses and SV40 virus can induce transformation.

Quality Control
Detroit 551 Cell Line was tested and found to be free of mycoplasma, bacterial, viruses, and other toxins. All cells were above 95% viability before freezing.
