Description
Adherent keratinocyte cell line derived from a lymph node metastasis squamous cell carcinoma (SSC) of the larynx. Keratin and involucrin markers present. Known mutations p53, p16 and p14ARF. Cells are tumourigenic in athymic mice. By short tandem repeat (STR)-PCR analysis the Y chromosome could not be detected in this cell line. It cell line is a known phenomenon that SSC cell lines can lose their Y chromosome.
Suggested Medium
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS) + 0.4 micrograms/ml Hydrocortisone.
Quality Control
BICR 18 Cell Line was tested and found to be free of mycoplasma, bacterial, viruses, and other toxins. All cells were above 95% viability before freezing.
