Description
This AV3 (HeLa derivative) cell line was originally derived from normal human amnion. The cells are mainly used for virus studies (susceptible to poliovirus 1). HeLa marker chromosomes and type A G6PD have been detected. This cell line was found to be indistinguishable from HeLa by STR PCR DNA profiling. Therefore, the cell line must be considered to be derived from HeLa. Ethnicity Black.

Quality Control
AV3 (HeLa derivative) Cell Line was tested and found to be free of mycoplasma, bacterial, viruses, and other toxins. All cells were above 95% viability before freezing.
