Description
AB1 cell line is a mouse mesothelioma cell line. Mice (BALB/c strain, female, 6-8 weeks old) were exposed to crocidolite asbestos through intraperitoneal injection, resulting in tumour development. Cultures were established from malignant mesothelial cells obtained from ascites fluid. Cells were cultured successfully for at least 9 months and 32 passages.

Quality Control
AB1 Cell Line was tested and found to be free of mycoplasma, bacterial, viruses, and other toxins. All cells were above 95% viability before freezing.

Morphology
AB1 cells are fibroblast - like, but show a typical epithelial appearance when confluent.
